Reception and room service staff were excellent, very attentive and friendly. Room was good in terms of cleanliness, facilities, electrical sockets, space and storage, beds were comfortable. Cookie on arrival was a sweetener ! Location to jfk is excellent and there is a shuttle - complimentary running every 30mins 24 hours a day. Great view from room of jfk at night.
Cafe/Restaurant was buffet - looked really old and dried out food. So we had room service instead - which is more expensive - seems like a way of making more money with less staff ! Area is not nice, although parking is secure, make sure that you arrive by taxi, not an area to walk around ! Parking on Booked.net said it was free - on arrival it is not ! $13.50 per night - this was a contributory factor when booking this vs. Other hotels in locality to jfk. Lighting in rooms is poor - all lights have individual switches, rather than be key operated which would be better for the environment, and the level of lighting was poor - always low level, and I am 34 ! Older customers would have real issues.Signage for parking/check in non-existent - no where does it state check in first prior to parking. Air-con is noisy - but then that is the case in anything but 5 star hotels !

I phone ahead to book a room at the DoubleTree a few days after Hurricane Sandy. I asked if the hotel was functioning and had the necessities of life. They said yes and I proceeded to book the room through Booked.net. Upon arrival the next day, I was informed that the hotel had no electricity or running water in the rooms and that the only shower that was available was a cold water shower in the athletics facility. I understand that the hotel was under pressure during the hurricane, but lying to their customers is not right. Apparently, they did this to several of their customers.

Close to JFK airport
Upon opening the door to the room, there was a dirty towel laying on the floor. Further investigation showed dirty carpeting, blood (?) on sheets, long black hair hanging off the towel in the bathroom, dirty bathroom floor. Was given another room. Much cleaner than the first however I noticed the shower curtain was old, threads pulled and hanging everywhere. This hotel is in the condition of a motel 6. Very disappointing since I am a Hilton Honors member.

I liked that the King Rooms were really spacious and provided a lot of sleeping room for those traveling with friends.
I did not like the location, it was further from the city than I orignially anticipated.

The staff was wonderful. I had a problem with my booking date, and the manager was excellent help. Everything went well and I really enjoyed my stay. The staff went beyond their duty to make my stay comfortable.

We were upgraded to a corner suite when we arrived - excellent room, excellent service from both bell man and hotel staff. We were looking for a convenient stay (with restaurant) for an early flight out of JFK in the a.m. Have experienced some of the less affluent properties locally and really appreciated a wonderful stay. Thank you!

Location is good for brief lay over
Hotel room/carpet very soiled. bathroom shower tub full of mildew, could not wait to check out of this hotel. Have stayed at other hotels in area. I stayed at Doubletree, thinking it would be nice. Not up to most Doubletree standards. Check elsewhere for the price.

Efficient operation, all the facilities needed for a short stay
Room was a bit noisy (from the freeway). Finishes looking a bit tired but basically fine for this price and convenience
